Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

5th March 2003

On Wednesday evening, 5th March, 27 team members and their partners attended a Civic Reception in the Mayors Parlour of Bolton Town Hall, hosted by our dear friend, Councilor John Walsh OBE, Mayor of Bolton. This extra special evening saw the presentation, by the Mayor, to 18 members attending, of the Queens Golden Jubilee Medal, awarded nationally to members of the Armed Services and Emergency Services for five years continuous service up to February 2002. (In actual fact we were awarded 23 medals, but the other recipients were up in the Cairngorm Mountains, on this years Team Winter Scotland Social).
The evening was a double celebration, for we were then presented with our MRC. Casualty Care Certificates, following the teams 100% successful pass rate of the MRC. Casualty Care Course, which we held over some 15 evening sessions and a full weekend. Presenting our Certificates were Derek Cartwright, Assistant Director of Operations, Greater Manchester Ambulance Service, and Iain Middleton, Paramedic Manager, also of GMAS. 29 of our members passed the course to qualify for the Certificate, with 22 being present to receive it on this evening. (the Cairngorms again !).

In return, our Chairman, Tony McNally, (who incidentally received the Medal and the Certificate) presented to both the Mayor and Derek Cartwright, inscribed plaques on behalf of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
Following the Town Hall reception we all adjourned to the teams Bolton “watering hole” (we have many throughout our area!) The Howcroft Public House, where we enjoyed a hot pot supper. (with beer of course).
