Whilst half the team were at Manchester Airport, the rest were taking part in a typically wet autumn nights training exercise, alongside the latest recruit to the team.
A chance meeting, whilst we were at the recent Bolton Fire Station open day, saw Phil Frain, the Co – Director of “RescuEquip1”, manufacturers of Fire and Water Rescue Training Equipment, based in Bolton, offer to donate to the team one of their latest Training dummies. (or Casualty Simulators).
With thanks to Denise and Phil of “RescuEquip1”, Phil met up with us on Wednesday evening, 8th October, to donate a Teenager sized model of their Casualty Simulator range, (their “Joe Public” range).
Phil had more good news to offer, with the promised donation next week , to the team, of an Adult sized model Casualty Simulator.
We are extremely grateful for these donations, for although we train a lot with “live” exercise casualties, (our ever willing band of volunteers), there are many training situations where a Training dummy would be more appropriate, or would enable a more challenging and demanding training scenerio to be played out, than is possible with a real person !
In the past we have relied on borrowing a Training Dummy from GMCFS., but with this wonderful donation of two training dummies, we now have the facility to utilise Training dummies fully within the team.
Already our Training Officer Ann Shaw has started to think up some typically devious exercises, based around using these Casualty Simulators.
Phil has agreed to come down to our Bolton Fire Station base to make a more formal presentation to us of the Simulators, so watch out on the website for some pictures soon.
