Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

12th October 2003

28 team members, with our four team vehicles (and Dave Healey’s vehicle, in use as a radio link), provided Standby rescue Cover for the “Weavers Off Road Half Marathon” fell race, starting through the Tockholes plantations, and up onto Turton and Darwen moors, returning to the start location, just outside Abbey Village.
Organised by Blackburn Road Runners, in aid of funds for Abbey Village school, the 14 mile event attracted 147 runners, with 7 juniors taking part in a parallel event around Lower Roddlesworth reservoir.
Team members Pete Ellwood (of recent Munro fame) and Jonathan Holt, took part in the event, (alongside we think some RAF MRT troops?), which was, from a safety cover viewpoint, thankfully uneventful.
