Once again an early morning wake up call from our pagers, today it was at 01.31 Hrs from Greater Manchester Police, for an urgent search in the Jumbles Country Park area, for a vunerable missing 91 year old gentleman.
The man’s abandoned car had been located just before midnight and we were tasked to immediately respond to try and locate this missing person. 20 team members joined in a search, initially alongside GMP divisional officers and Tactical Aid Support Unit officers, assisted by the GMP Air Support Unit helicopter, India 99.
One specific tasking for the team was the searching of the immediate shoreline area of the reservoir, with our recently purchased PFD’s (Lifejackets), being utilised for the very purpose that they were purchased.
At 06.55 Hrs, with nothing found, this part of the search operation was concluded and the team was stood down and vehicles returned to their bases.
