A Sunday evening callout to round off a very busy weekend for the team, which started on Friday and resulted in 3 spot pick-ups. At 19:04 we were contacted by LANCON on behalf of LAS to attend an incident initially reported to be in the area of the Top Barn, Lever Park, Rivington (Rivington Hall Barn). A fast initial response was made by Horwich based team members (including our Deputy Team Leader) to the RVP at the Top Barn.
First arriving team members were then despatched to try and locate the casualty site (the casualty and her partner had made initial contact with LAS, giving their approximate location but then their mobile phone’s battery had apparently failed). Our TL was despatched to locate the responding LAS vehicle in the Lower House area. At 19:33 the 57 year old female hillwalker concerned was located along with her partner and their dog by team members. Team members, and the 3 responding team vehicles then relocated to join our TL with the LAS ambulance at Lower House car park.
Via a network of local tracks (in the darkness) our BM1 vehicle was able to transport an LAS paramedic and team members direct to the scene to join other team members who were treating the woman for a suspected fractured right ankle. The woman was placed into BM1 and transported back to the roadhead at Lower House, then transferred to the LAS vehicle for onward journey to Royal Bolton Hospital, at 20:11.
The casualty is transfered from Bolton Mobile 1 to the LAS stretcher.
The woman’s hillwalking partner and their dog were transported back by our DTL to collect their car. An interesting night time spot pick-up which relied greatly on the local knowledge of the team to locate and then evacuate the casualty.
27 team members responded to this incident inclusive of 6 members who were stood down responding.
