On Friday July 29th for the second year running the team is hosting an all-day visit to its base for children from Belarus, who take part in a visit to the UK every year to assist them in their recovery from the effects of the Chernobyl incident, which is still very much a problem in Belarus.
During the day with the team the children will take part in small Mountain Rescue exercises and also no doubt make great friends with Chi, our search dog (the chatter of Belarussian voices on our radios is also common during the day). A very kind sponsor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has made a large donation to the team in order to fund all their refreshment and meal costs during the day (including the children’s helpers and assistants), which will be taken in the excellent dining facilities at Ladybridge Hall itself.
