Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

Late this evening, the Team was contacted by GMP intially regarding advice, which quickly led to a request for the Team’s immediate assistance, in the search for a missing 71 year old man in the Chorlton cum Hardy area of South Manchester.

23 team members were quickly mobilised to undertake a search of open land, river banks and canal banks to the immediate North of Sale Water Park.

Our first searchers were deployed at 23:45 Hrs, with searching of the immediate tasked areas being completed by 03:00 Hrs on the morning of Friday 15th July.

Following debriefing and future liasion with the GMP OIC and Missing Person’s Search Manager, the team was stood down and departed the search RVP at 04.00 Hrs.

Members then left to catch up on their missed night’s sleep prior to most starting work in the morning, however for one team member work meant an international flight, as Deputy Team Leader (Operational) Paul Jorgensen departed the search, and in his team kit was immediately taken to Manchester Airport by his wife to catch the early morning international flight to Oman, where Paul now works on a 6 week on 4 week off shift pattern.

At approximately 04.40 Hrs in the Belle Vue area of Manchester, the missing man was located by a GMAS ambulance crew, who requested the attendance of GMP. The man was admitted to hospital suffering the slight effects of mild hypothermia and disorientation due to his illness and medical condition. The Team wishes him well in his recovery.
