At 06.40 Hrs this morning the team was paged by Lancashire Constabulary to lend its assistance to Bowland Pennine MRT, who were set to continue a search started the previous evening for a missing 72 year old Chorley woman. 24 Bolton MRT members responded to join 12 Bowland Pennine members, in a search which was initially centred on the Yarrow Country Park, then moved to Astley Park and finally centred in the Eccleston area.
Our thanks go to John Hy Mayor & Sons Ltd for allowing us to set Control up in their yard.
Bolton Team members listen carefully to the briefing from Garry Rhodes, well perhaps it was a long night for Ken Oakes !!!
MRT resources were joined by Lancashire Constabulary resources including 2 Police Horse units, their specialist Search Unit, Divisional Officers, Lancashire Constabulary Catering Unit and their Air Support Unit helicopter. Close family members of the missing woman also greatly assisted the search effort.
At least our Fundraising Officer, knows how to get the most of the free food !!!
The search was concluding late afternoon when news came that incredibly the missing woman, in a confused state, had walked all the way to Southport where a member of the public had then given her a lift back to Chorley. A happy conclusion to a large scale and intensive search that was giving great concern for all involved as to the safe well being of the missing woman.
