Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

12th March 2006

At 11:41 today we were contacted by Greater Manchester Ambulance Service who requested our assistance with an ambulance that was stuck in the snow in Billinge, near Wigan.

Our 4WD Landrover Ambulance, BM1, was sent to assist and arrived at the location at 12:05, to find that the ambulance had slipped just off a tarmac road and was now surrounded by approximately 1 foot of snow.

Efforts to extract the ambulance were aided by a local farmer who attached his tractor to the ambulance using one of our winch strops, and managed to pull the ambulance back onto the road.

The 3 BMRT members on board were then treated to a much appreciated brew back at Billinge Ambulance Station, courtesy of the very appreciative crew that we assisted!
