At 20:53 in the evening, GMP requested the team’s immediate assistance for a search of the Pennington Flash county park area in Leigh, Greater Manchester. A 47 year old Manchester man was reported missing, giving Police cause for concern for this general welfare.

35 team members responded and in the extremely hot conditions of the late evening, conducted a thorough search of all the path network, bird hides and water margins of the country park, along with a two man Canadian canoe team from the team’s canoe & kayak unit, which conducted a surface water search. Just after midnight, with new Police intelligence, the search was suspended in this particular area. By 01:30 in the early morning of Friday 5th May, all team members had returned to their home locations for some well earned sleep (Our 3rd callout in only 4 days).
Police enquiries regarding this missing man are continuing.
