The team, joint with Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and Oldham MRT, undertook today a tower crane exercise with thanks to ROK Building Ltd on a 120 feet high tower crane on their building site in Bark Street, Bolton.

The team has an arrangement along with Oldham MRT to support Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service in tower crane and structures rescue and has a training requirement to conduct regular exercises on structures such as this tower crane.

In total, 3 exercise casualties from GMFRS and Bolton MRT played out different injuries on the tower crane structure requiring rescue from height utilising the specialist equipment and resources of the Bolton and Oldham MRTs. Firefighters from Bolton Central, Bolton North, and Horwich Fire Stations took part in the exercise along with 16 Bolton MRT members and 3 Oldham MRT members.

The exercise was judged a huge success by all involved and illustrated the excellent cooperation and liaison that exists both between the Bolton and Oldham MRTs and between both the teams and GMFRS.

During the exercise the team received #article#1413#an emergency call# from NWAS (Manchester locality) to a remote farm location in Tottington. 8 members from the team responded direct from the exercise, leaving other members on scene to carry on and complete the full exercise.
