At 19:20 this evening, just as a very light snowfall was taking place, NWAS (Greater Manchester Area) Control paged the team for assistance with the report of a woman walker who had possibly fractured her ankle whilst walking in the Sale Water Park area, the 999 caller informing Ambulance Control that immediate access was not possible due to barriers across the access track system to the water/country park area.
The team was possibly required for a short stretcher evacuation, with a full team pager call out at 19:26. 17 team members were responding when news came that the Ambulance crew, now on scene, had managed to access the casualty and our services would not be required.
We’ve had many small and many large scale search incidents in the Sale Water Park area over the last few years, but spot pick ups here seem to be the trend. (see Incidents 129/2006 and 13/2007)
