Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

31st January 2007

As reported on our news entry dated Thursday 25th January, we did indeed take delivery this evening of an Aireshelta from the Aire Group Limited, who delivered the shelter to our Ladybridge Hall base direct.

This air inflated shelter has been purchased at a total cost of £2,702.50 inclusive of VAT. and is an ex demo model which was offered to the team at a generous discount rate from the new purchase price. (Thanks here to Kevin Bradley at the Aire Group Limited, Huddersfield)

The purchase of this shelter (and the trailer we will purchase to transport it in) has been made possible by £2,510.00 donated to the team for just such a shelter tent, in the memory of Tom Sunter, a local man who was tragically drowned in a canoeing incident in South West Scotland.

A further £1,000.00 grant was very generously made by the Provincial Insurance Company Trust for Bolton, who specifically awarded us this donation to purchase a shelter tent.

We are in touch with the local family of the late Tom Sunter, and are hoping to arrange a formal dedication and handover ceremony of the Aireshelta, with the family of Tom Sunter present.

Please also refer to our news entry for 25th January 2007.

Team members had a chance to practice working with the Aireshelta on the following Sunday…

Team members Chris & Mark attempt to erect the Aireshelta using the latest in team technology – psychokinesis – but we don’t think that they’ll be upstaging Uri Geller any time soon!

Chris & Mark look pleased with the finished product – after deciding to revert to more conventional methods to erect the shelter!
