Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

11th February 2007

Whilst in the Rivington area providing standby rescue cover for the Winter Hill Fell Race, the team was contacted direct by NWAS (Lancashire area) A&E Control to respond, due to our being in the close vicinity, to the report of an elderly man who had collapsed inside the cafeteria at Great House Barn (locally known as the Bottom Barn) in Lever Park, Rivington. The team was contacted at 12:25 and our BM4 vehicle with 3 persons on board was quickly mobile and arrived on scene within minutes, followed by our team leader.

Team members hand the casualty over to the NWAS (GMA) Ambulance crew.

The 79 year old man, with a previous history of angina, was given Oxygen therapy by our team members whilst awaiting the arrival of an NWAS ambulance, which arrived on scene at 12:53 and quickly departed with the casualty on board to take him to Royal Bolton Hospital.
