This evening our Chairman, Ken Oakes, Team Leader Garry Rhodes, and Mark Scott our Medical Equipment Officer were guests at the Bolton and District Charity Tournament donation presentation evening, held at the Old Links Golf Club, Chorley Old Road, Horwich.
Originating around World War I, the Ladies Golf Cot and Men’s Golf Cot supported the purchase of cots (beds) for injured servicemen, the charity went on to support children and now to bring the story up to date every year they support a host a local charities.
This year the presentation evening hosted a number of charities being supported, ourselves and Vision Aid being nominated and supported by the Ladies Golf Cot of the Bolton and District Golfers Charity Competition, with the Men’s Golf Cot supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind, Victim Support And Witness Service, the Neo-natal Care Unit at Royal Bolton Hospital at Haematology Unit at Royal Bolton Hospital.
Each group being supported was invited to give a presentation to the assembled Ladies and Men’s committees following which there was the presentation of cheque donations to all the groups present.
We are extremely pleased to announce the very generous donation of £600 to our team from the Ladies Golf Cot, as nominated by the Ladies Section of Bolton Golf Clubs.
The charities receive their donations from the Bolton and District Golfers.
In reply, Garry our Team Leader presented to the assembled committee members present Mountain Rescue Supporter lapel badges, BMRT supporter stickers, and other information on the team. An invitation was also extended to the various golf clubs concerned of a visit to our Ladybridge Hall base or alternatively a lecture presentation by the team to any of the clubs concerned at their meetings.
Once again thanks to everybody for such a wonderful donation and how humbling to be amongst the company of other charities like ourselves who rely upon the kind donations of groups such as the Bolton and District Golfers Charity Competition.
