Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

3rd June 2007

Organised annually by the Rotary Club of Darwen, the Darwen Tower Trudge currently takes in a ten mile route around the Darwen, Tockholes and Roddlesworth areas, and attracts many differant groups and individuals who all gain sponsorship to support local charities.

We have supported the Rotary Club of Darwen for many years now with this event, by providing Standby Rescue Cover and first aid, alongside the excellent marshalling and sweep teams provided by Darwen Rotary Club members.

In high temperatures and clear sunny weather, today’s event was a total success, with some 125 sponsored walkers taking part officially alongside others just out for the day to accompany them.

18 team members in four team vehicles provided Standby Rescue Cover for this year’s event, with other members in reserve if needed. Thankfully the event passed without incident and looks set to have raised a lot of money for local charities.
