Early this month we were involved in a huge search effort to locate a missing Bolton man, 74 years old Mr John Nuttall, but despite a very comprehensive search involving our team, teams from Cheshire LSART, Oldham MRT and Rossendale and Pendle MRT, alongside considerable Police resources, the search sadly drew a blank.
Greater Manchester Police efforts and enquiries to locate Mr Nuttall continued throughout the month, alongside the never ending search efforts of Mr Nuttalls immediate family, who also instigated a massive poster campaign throughout the Horwich and Bolton districts to no avail.
Sadly we learnt today, that yesterday afternoon (Thursday 26th July) the body of Mr John nuttall had been located in water, in the flooded Moorgate Quarry, immediately alongside Chorley Old Road, alongside the Blundell Arms, Bolton.
His body was subsequently recovered by the Police Underwater Search Unit, with Greater Manchester Police commenting that there appears to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Nuttall.
Throughout our involvement in the search for Mr Nuttall, alongside all others involved, we never gave up on the hope that we might find Mr Nuttall alive, and this hope never faded despite the passage of time.
During our time searching for Mr Nuttall we met with his wife and family many times along with friends of Mr Nuttall, and we now offer them all our heartfelt condolences at their very sad loss.
