Team member Iain Peel, aged 31, who joined in October 1997, has stepped down from the teams call out list membership to concentrate on home and work after almost ten years in the team.
Iain initially joined the team after serving as a Voluntary Patrol Ranger with the Croal Irwell Voluntary Ranger Service, and very quickly established himself as a popular team member, bringing with him an intimate knowledge of the Moses Gate Country Park and surrounding areas.
Within the team Iain served on the Team Council as our Vehicles Officer, and even when he left this post he always helped out whenever anything was required to do with keeping our vehicles fully serviceable.
A long time with the Post Office as a Postman and then a Post Office driver saw Iain change to a completely new career a few years ago with Greater Manchester Ambulance Service Patient Transport Service. Shortly afterwards Iain embarked upon a career with what is now the North West Ambulance Service (Greater Manchester Area) as an Emergency Ambulanceman, and is currently based at South Bolton Ambulance Station, where no doubt his Mountain Rescue experiences are regularly called upon.
Recently married, Iain is concentrating on his CPD training as an Emergency Ambulance Technician and has pledged to stay in touch with the team and help out particularly with our Casualty Care training whenever we ask.
We will all miss Iain’s infectious laughter, big beaming smile and always helpful spirit (inside and outside the team!).
Call in to see us regularly Iain, keep in touch, and we’re still waiting for that job you keep promising us !
