Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

2nd August 2007

In early July we were involved over three seperate days in the intensive search operation to locate a missing 74 year old Bolton man, Mr John Nuttall.
Despite all our efforts and those of other searchers involved in the operation, the whereabouts of John Nuttall could not be established.

Sadly as we reported on our website entry for Friday 27th July, John’s body was found in the flooded Moorgate Quarry, alongside Chorley Old Road, Bolton, on Thursday 26th July, and was subsequently recovered by the Police.

Today we received an extremely kind letter from John’s wife, Mrs Linda Nuttall, stating “On behalf of my family, I write to thank you for the wonderful help provided by the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team. We were very impressed and touched by the tireless dedication of the members and their generoscity of spirit.”

Linda also kindly wished team member Steve Nelson, who fractured his leg during the search operation, continuing wishes for a full recovery (she had also passed on very kind comments when she first heard of Steve’s mishap on the search).

Mrs Linda Nuttall very kindly and very generously enclosed a £300.00 donation with her letter, which will be used in the team to Mr John Nuttall’s memory.

Mr Nuttall’s funeral will be held at Overdale West Chapel, Bolton, on Monday 6th August, with the family requsting that donations be made to the mental health charity MIND instead of flowers.

The team thanks the Nuttall family for the kindness behind this gratefully received donation, and once again extends its condolances to Mrs Linda Nuttall and her family over the sad loss of John Nuttall.

Please also see website entries dated July 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th and 27th in relation to Mr Nuttall.
