60th birthday congratulations today to founder team member and current callout list member Alan “The General” James.

Alan joined Mountain Rescue in early 1968 when he became a member of the Rossendale Fell Rescue Team (as was). In September of 1968 he went on to become one of the founder team members of our team since which time Alan has remained a an active callout list member throughout.

Today in a surprise for him, 23 team members in our four Team Landrover ambulances visited him and his wife Di gathering on his front lawn first to sing “Happy Birthday”, much to the amusement of his neighbours (the team members only agreed to leave after being fed with birthday cake and drink!).
