Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

5th April 2008

In October 2006, see Incident 124/2006, we assisted Lancashire Ambulance Service, as was, with an emergency call to a domestic property in Chorley, where a man had collapsed outside his house and due to his size the responding LAS crew called upon the services of our team for extra help and the use of specialist equipment at our disposal.

In July 2007 we received a very kind letter of thanks from the mother of the man involved, Mrs Bury, along with a donation and an update on the health of her son, stating “…thank you for helping to save my son’s life.“, see website entry for Tuesday 17th July 2007

Sadly, earlier this week our Team Leader was contacted by Mrs Bury, who informed us her son John Paul Joyce had passed away peacefully in the Critical Care Unit at Royal Preston Hospital on the morning of Saturday 23rd February this year.

John had specifically requested in the event of his death that donations should be made to our Team in his memory.

This morning we received a total of £210.00 in very kind donations from the family, friends and colleagues of John, who had all remembered and honoured his wish.

We are very grateful to the mother of John for carrying out his wishes at such a sad time for herself, and the whole team membership expresses its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of John Paul Joyce.
