This evening, immediately following our official handover of the catering trailer, and whilst team members were still assembled in the courtyard of our headquarters we received a surprise guest visitor (only our Team Leader was in on the secret) in the form of Alan Wilkinson, the outgoing president of Turton Rotary Club.
Alan came to the team to present a surprise donation to the team of the wonderful amount of £400.00 raised by Turton Rotarians, as part of their tremendous support of local charities.
The team’s Treasurer, Joanne Stones, and Team Leader, Garry Rhodes, accept the donation from Alan Wilkinson, of Turton Rotary Club.
Some readers may recognise Alan Wilkinson as a former Mayor of Bolton (Mayoral year of Office, 2000). Alan stayed after his surprise to team members had taken place for a conducted tour of our base by our Life Vice President, Tony McNally, and President Bob Hutchinson.
The whole team would like to express its sincere thanks to all the Rotarians at Turton Rotary Club for their very kind and generous donation to the team from their charity funds.
At the end of Alan’s visit, he presented to our Team Leader Garry Rhodes a Rotary Club of Turton, England pennant flag. In reply, our Team Leader presented to Alan a number of “Bolton MRT Supporter” car stickers and metal Mountain Rescue Supporter lapel badges.
