Today North West Ambulance Service (Greater Manchester Area) Emergency Control Room despatchers Alex Taylor (her dad is very experienced team member Fred Taylor), Andy Stant and Daniel Vegas joined the team for an insight into some of our activities.

They are amongst a small group of NWAS (Manchester) staff who are raising money for the team by undertaking the gruelling ’Three Peaks Challenge’, that’s Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon all within a 24 hour non-stop period!

Joining us at our Ladybridge Hall base/HQ at 9AM in the morning (although our body clocks were still saying it was 8am, all this changing the hour nonsense!) they departed with some team members for a 2hr walk over Winter Hill and Rivington Moor.

Following a ’butty stop’ it was then on to meet our two trainee search dog handlers Steve Nelson and Alistair Greenough (under the watchful trainers eye of former Bolton MRT dog handler Dave Marsh) for a spot of search dog training work on Wilders Moor.

Then it was onto Anglezarke Quarry, for a spot of crag work including some abseiling.

The day ended back at Ladybridge Hall with Team Medical Equipment Officer and Opiate trained member Mark Scott giving the three NWAS despatchers a full insight into our casualty care equipment.

Blessed by excellent sunny weather (almost completely clear blue skies) the whole day’s activities were followed by Horwich Rotarian Ted Wisedale of Westhoughton, who has commenced a project to film the team’s activities to result in a film we can show to interested groups illustrating our work.
