Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

15th April 2009

This evening David McNally, First Responder Manager for NWAS (Greater Manchester Area) visited the team to officially hand over four Cardiac Science FirstSave AED G3 defibrillators (AED = automated external defibrillator).

These four latest generation AEDs are to replace our existing four AEDs two of which were supplied by the British Heart Foundation in 1997 and 2000 and two from what was GMAS NHS Trust in 2003. (these older generation AEDs could not be re-programmed to adhere to the latest resus guidelines, hence their replacement).

David (a long term friend and colleague of the rescue team) then went on to give a presentation to the 29 team callout members present on the use of these new AEDs.

The team is extremely grateful to NWAS (Greater Manchester Area) for this extremely generous donation of vital life-saving equipment.

As with our previous AEDs these four new models will equip each one of our four Mountain Rescue Landrover Ambulance vehicles.

The team would also like to extend its thanks to the National Lottery and the British Heart Foundation who have supplied NWAS (Greater Manchester Area) with a considerable number of these AEDs including the four we have now received as part of a community program to place AEDs in the Greater Manchester Area.
