This evening the team provided standby rescue cover for the Lever Park Run.
This annual event is organised by the Horwich RMI Harriers & Athletics Club and constitutes a part of the annual Horwich Carnival Races.
74x senior runners took part in a two lap circuit covering the more remote track network in Lever Park and Roynton Lane through the Terraced Gardens at Rivington, commencing at 19.30hrs.
The very warm temperatures combined with dry surfaces made the running conditions ideal for the event.
In total, 32x team members provided standby rescue cover for this event, operating out of our Mountain Rescue Control trailer at the Knowle House car park, Rivington. Our 4 Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles were based at strategic points around the course in case of any incident. (although thankfully our services were not required)
On Thursday this week the team is providing evening standby cover for the Two Lads Race from Horwich to Two Lads moorland summit and return, yet another event in the Horwich Carnival Races (on Sunday this week the team is providing all-day standby rescue cover for the Horwich Town Centre based Horwich Carnival Races – consisting of road running, cycling, and various fun events.
