Unbeknown to the team in early November last year we received a kind letter of thanks from Yvonne Charnock of Harwood, Bolton, the casualty involved in incident 92/2008 of Thursday 18th September 2008 (please refer to news entry of this date).
Due to an internal mail problem we only became aware of this letter this evening, extracts of which follow:
During my enforced recuperation I have thought about the day frequently recalling the care, kindness and thoughtfullness extended to me at such a trying time.
Having broken [my] tibia & fibula and having an operation involving a metal rod of some kind, it has put a stop to my walking activities, but I have every hope of resuming my rambling in the not too distant future.
Before retirement I used to promote the whole area to Southern journalists & business people and immensely proud of our real name of Bolton le Moors and the fact of our rescue team. I would love to meet up with some of the team and help with fundraising as soon as I am able.
Our Team Leader Garry Rhodes spoke to Yvonne this evening immediately after becoming aware of this kind letter.
Yvonne is now arranging with Garry to visit the team and meet some of the members involved in her rescue, to say a big personal thanks.
We are happy to report that Yvonnes serious leg-break has now healed and she is back walking the local hills.
