At 05.24hrs this morning Greater Manchester Police paged the team for assistance with a developing search for a missing Manchester woman.
The 53 years old Asian woman involved was reported missing to the Police on the afternoon of Tuesday 23rd February, and with growing concern for her well being, GMP launched a search operation alongside their routine missing from home enquiries.
The team was paged to standby at 05.30hrs followed by a full team call out at 05.51hrs after our Team Leader had obtained more information from GMP.
Initially our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE met with the GMP Missing Person Search Manager at Longsight Police Station, to determine search areas and obtain background infromation to this search.
In total 14x team members attended this search, which was concentrated on the open land areas of Nutsford Vale and Crowcroft Park in the Longsight area of Manchester.
This area includes open grassland, streams and a small river with very steep banks, wooded areas and ponds, so an intensive search was mounted, commencing at around 09.15hrs with all areas completed by 11.15hrs. (with the temperature rising through the search from 0 degreec to 9 degreec!)
With nothing located regards the womans whereabouts, the team was stood down and left the Longsight area at 11.35hrs.
We deployed three Team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances to this search, our Control Trailer and 14x personnel. (another team member, Mark Parry, helped load all our kit at our Base / HQ at the start of this call).
Greater Manchester Police deployed two GMP Missing Person Search Managers, and one Divisional Officer to directly help in this search operation.
Footnote; On the morning of Thursday 25th February we were informed by GMP that the missing woman had turned up at her home address mid evening on the day of our search.
