Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

20th March 2010

At circa 13:30 hrs today the team was contacted by NWAS (Lancashire) for assistance with a fell walker who had fallen on the path descending Winter Hill to Horden Stoops.

An NWAS Emergency Ambulance, from Leyland Ambulance Station, was already on scene at Horden Stoops car park and our Deputy Team Leader quickly responded to the incident scene, paging the rest of the team to the incident site.

The Manchester Pedestrian Club had been descending from Winter Hill when one of the group had slipped on the steep, wet descent and had suffered a suspected lower left leg fracture.

9 team members responded and, along with the three attending ambulance staff, splinted the casualty and transported him on our Troll Alphin Stretcher approximately half a mile through the boggy moorland to the waiting NWAS Emergency Ambulance for transfer to Royal Bolton Hospital.

This incident was concluded by all involved at 14:42 hours.
