A successful, incident free ‘Muddy March Hare Event’ was run for the third year running this morning and the team provided standby rescue cover for both ’Muddy March Hare’ races held within the Croal / Irwell Valley, Darcy Lever, Bolton.
Organised by Bolton United Harriers in partnership with Bolton MBC and their Countryside Ranger Service, the sun shone throughout the whole event and most runners were expecting a ‘dry’ trail. Unfortunately, the downpours of the last two days ensured that mud was still much in evidence on all the runners taking part!
Our four Landrover Mountain Rescue Ambulances manned by team members, provided standby rescue cover inclusive of first aid, spot pick up crews and a presence at most of the checkpoints, (marshalls were also present throughout the event provided by the organisers).
Two events took place, a 2km Fun Run attracting 54 entrants and a Trail Race, 6km in length with 49 runners (including a full team member of Bolton Mountain Rescue, Mark Parry – well done Mark).
