Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

16th May 2010

Every year the team supports the Horwich New Heart Pike event which is a sponsored walk to raise funds for the Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund.

Walkers take a route which starts at Rivington Hall Barn, through the Terraced Gardens to the summit of Rivington Pike and back down to Rivington Hall Barn. The team provides standby rescue cover for this event which traditionally has involved some walkers who have had heart surgery or suffered cardiac problems, in some years the event also attracts cardiac doctors and surgeons.

This year in our four team vehicles, 17 team members were on hand to cover the event including many small parties of team members who throughout the afternoon of this event walked alongside the sponsored participants.

Some of this year’s participants!

In total, 85 walkers took part in today’s sponsored walk which passed without incident on a wonderfully sunny day, albeit with a bit of a chilly wind in the air!
