Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

25th September 2010

This evening our Team Doctor, Clare Whitney (with a lot of help from her husband Pete) celebrated the occasion of her 30th Birthday (Well it’s actually in mid October but at this age who is counting the odd days!) with ’Clarefest 2010,’ a party at Smithills Open Farm.

On hand was plenty of real ale (a fine selection) both on tap and bottled, cider, Lager and soft drinks.

Providing the evenings entertainment was the Preston based Old School Band, who managed to get most up Ceilidh dancing to a fine selection of tunes.

Greeley’s Butchers of Horwich provided excellent food for the evening in the form of a Hog Roast, (And yes at the end of the evening all the pigs at the Open Farm were all accounted for)

The management of the Open Farm kindly allowed all present the freedom to walk around the animal pens, with the piglets getting the most votes for cuteness from the many children (And Adults!)and the goat kids coming a close second.
The evening was rounded off with a Happy 30th Birthday sing song to the ’Good Old Doctor Clare.’

Fourteen Call Out list members attended along with four members of our Support Group, joining with Clare and Pete’s family, friends and work colleagues for a great evening.

Braving the 6c overnight temperatures, Clare and Pete spent a romantic Birthday night together camping out under the stars at Smithills Open Farm, (Perhaps not that romantic, given that Team members Paul Brain and Samantha McKay were also camping next to them).

So from all your team colleagues Clare, enjoy a very 30th Birthday.
