As well as being part of the Full Team Callout, a number of members are also involved with local Scouting groups.
Two of our members, Steve Fletcher and Mike Marsh, are involved in organising the Pike View Hike which takes place in April and is open to any cub or scout groups to take part. The Adult Pike View Hike is open to Scout Leaders, and keeps the same ’party of 4 walkers’ format, and of course, the adults know what they are doing, don’t they?
This morning Steve and Mike were joined by Elaine Gilliland and Paul Brain and former Team Member and training officer, Andy Ryding, to carry out the kit checks, ready for the 7:30 start of the walk.
The walkers have to report to a number of check points, and at these are given tasks to carry out.
This year the tasks began early with all teams given an egg to transport to a later check point, where it was to be used in the ingredients for a pancake.
This year 14 teams took part, with the first team completing the 18km route by 13:55 this afternoon. Another of the teams were last seen entering one of the Brinscall public houses…
