Late this afternoon at 16.00hrs our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE, was contacted directly by a Greater Manchester Police Missing Person Search Manager, requesting the teams assistance with a search for a missing 25 year old man from the Heaton area of Bolton, in circumstances giving GMP cause for concern.
A full team pager Call Out was made at 16.12hrs for all members to RVP at our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ as being close to the area where the missing man had last been seen, it was decided to run the search control from this location.
GMP requested that the team particularly search the wooded area of Captain’s Clough, extending from Doffcocker Reservoir to the Cope Bank area of Bolton.
Team members commenced searching at 18.00hrs joint with GMP Officers.
A call was also made to our colleagues in Rossendale and Pendle MRT for their possible assistance if the search escalated, resulting in the RPMRT Team Leader Andy Simpson placing his team on standby.
Just before 19.00hrs, GMP acted on information that the missing man had been admitted to Royal Bolton Hospital by NWAS Emergency Ambulance, but had then discharged himself, placing the search on hold until this information could be verified. (At this stage RPMRT were informed and stood down from their standby)
It was soon established that the missing man had returned to his home address and at 19.30hrs the search was suspended.
In total twenty Bolton MRT team members were involved in this search operation, alongside a GMP Missing Person Search Manager and a GMP Tactical Aid Unit.
