We have today received a great donation from Mr Gary Melia. We provided Gary, who owns and runs The Barber Shop, 19 Deansgate, Radcliffe, M26 2SH, with a collecting box at his request last September. He phoned just after Christmas to say it needed emptying. Our secretary Gillian called in with a new tin on 4th January, followed by the sending of a Certificate of Thanks to him for the contents of £37.76.

Gary phoned Gillian back to say he was disappointed with the amount collected! Most of it was put in by him anyway, but said he now wanted to give us a further £100 if we would call at his shop to collect it.

Today our President, Bob Hutchinson, called to see Gary and collect the donation, and of course thank him for this wonderful gesture. Gary says that he and his wife have supported charities for some time but recently switched from supporting national charities to more local ones. Fortunately, with Gary being a hill walker himself, we have been one of those they have helped. We wish him many happy hours in the hills and trust he never has to call on our or our colleagues services!
