Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

7th March 2011

Today, Team Life Vice President Tony McNally and Training Officer Elaine Gilliland were welcomed by six Year 10 pupils of the Kingsbridge Centre of Excellence at Rose Bridge High School in Wigan.

By invitation of Headteacher, Mrs Maggie Biddlestone, Tony and Elaine were asked to visit the Centre to give an overview of volunteering and specifically aspects of volunteering for Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.

Initially, Tony gave an overview of the work of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team to the six Year 10 girls who were extremely inquisitive and posed some very well structured questions to both Tony and Elaine. After all questions were answered the girls ventured outside to view our Landrover Defender 110 (BM1) and had a full overview of the equipment and radios within the vehicle. Finally, back in the warm, Elaine demonstrated basic life support and CPR to the girls, one of which then practiced the process on a resuscitation dummy and all girls then answered a few questions about what they might do if they found themselves in a situation where they might need help or to help another person.

On completion, Mrs Biddlestone presented Tony and Elaine with an extremely generous donation to Bolton Mountain Rescue Team of £100:00.

Tony and Elaine would like to thank Mrs Biddlestone for the kind invitation to the Centre and would like to specifically thank the Year 10 girls for their very warm welcome and enthusiasm throughout the visit.

The whole team membership extends its gratitude to the Kingsbridge Centre of Excellence, Rose Bridge High School, for the very generous donation and support to the Team.
