Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

10th March 2011

The team are delighted that once again our good friends in the Westhoughton Rotary Club have nominated Bolton Mountain Rescue as one of the charities they have chosen to support through their spectacular fundraising efforts involving supermarket collections, Santa’s sleigh visits to the neighbourhood, and other imaginative means.

The team was represented by team member Mark Scott who joined representatives of dozens of other local charities who all enjoyed a delicious meal and great company and who were all grateful recipients of the Rotarians’ generosity and charitable fundraising endeavours.

It was a fascinating evening, with each representative giving a short talk about the work of their group. All manner of voluntary groups spoke, with an amazing and humbling diversity in the activities described. All had one thing in common: local people giving of their time freely to help other local people in need. Mark spoke about two recent Bolton Mountain Rescue incidents (a search undertaken in the previous week, and a sledging accident) to illustrate the variety of the team’s work, and the stories behind them.

On behalf of the team, we give our thanks for the extremely helpful and welcome donation of £180 presented to us, and for the excellent evening Mark attended.
