Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

5th April 2011

This evening the team played host to a visit from the very interested Cubs and Leaders of 35th Bolton East (St Maxentius) Cub Pack.

They were met by very experienced Team Call Out list member Mike Marsh (now approaching 25 years in the team, an ex Cub himself and now a Scout Leader) Team Call Out list member Neil Warburton (an ex Scout Leader) and Trainee Team member Paul Chisholm.

Together they demonstrated the based Team Vehicles, and the wide range of search and rescue equipment carried on board the two Ladybridge Hall based team vehicles.

At the end of their visit, all from the 35th Bolton East (St Maxentius) Cub Pack promised the team a future donation, arising from Bedding plant sales the Cub Pack carry out to raise funds.

We also welcomed tonight two very special visitors to the evening, as young cub George Baxendale was accompanied by his interested parents Paul and Yolande Baxendale.

Both were former Bolton MRT team members, great supporters of the team, and in the case of Paul also a former Dog Handler in SARDA (Search and Rescue Dog Association) and the teams first SARDA Dog Handler (Readers will recall the recent story regards Search Dog Blue recently passing away of old age).

For Paul and Yolande it was their first ever visit to our Ladybridge Hall Base / HQ, as we were based at New Overdale Youth Training Centre when they were both active in the team. They reported that they were amazed at our ’new’ premises, and also at all the new equipment now in team service since they were last with the team.
