Following on from Bolton Mountain Rescue Team being selected as the Charity of the Year for 2011 by Bolton Sports Federation Ladies’ Rounders League, even more money has been kindly raised for Bolton MRT. To date the magnificent sum £1500.00 has been raised.
Today five team Call Out list members Chairman Craig Lamb, former Team Chairman Ken Oakes, Diane Blakeley, Ana Toole and Trainee Phil Crook called in at the Rounders Champions Tournament 2011 which was held at Walkden Cricket Club, Worsley, Manchester. The tournament launches the new Rounders season, which starts tomorrow (Monday 11th April). Sixteen teams took part in the tournament; they were the different league winners from the 2010 season. The weather could not have been better with gorgeous sunshine as the team members watched some of the matches whilst Diane explained that yes it was quite a legal for someone to be “got out” by the opposition throwing the ball at runner very hard to hit them out!
A big thank you to all those who helped to organise the event and those supporting the team by buying raffle tickets. We will update this account when we are advised of the total sum raised.
The picture above is the New Inn ‘A’ Rounders Team who were the Champions of Division C in 2010 with team members.
The main fundraising event of the year is the sponsored walk/run which is taking place on Good Friday. The team will attend with a vehicle to wave the walkers/runners on their way before the team heads to Rivington Pike for our annual safety cover.
