Last year we were approached by local photographer Susan Rigby, with regards to a ’Wheels and Motion 2’ Charity photographic exhibition she was planning to hold at the Horwich RMI Social Club, with the wonderful news that she had very kindly chosen our team as one of three Charity Beneficiaries from the proceeds raised.
The exhibition actually took place on Saturday and Sunday 20th and 21st November 2010, with the team present on both days with vehicles, team members and our full exhibition display at the Horwich RMI Social Club, where Susan Rigby, a well known local photographer particularly amongst the motorcycling community, held a two day ’Wheels and Motion’ Charity Event, with proceeds from the sale of her excellent photographs at the event in aid of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, The North West Air Ambulance, and Help for Heroes.
This was the second local exhibition of Susan Rigby’s photographic work, concentrating on the local motorcycle scene (with many taken on the local moorland roads), the Isle of Man TT Races and the British Super Bikes.
Susan also arranged for a great many other attractions at her event, including displays of motorcycles.
At the time Susan spoke to our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE about the weekends event, with the happy news that a large sum of money had already been raised at this event for the charities she is very kindly supporting, and with the news that some other associated events had still to take place before she announced her final total raised for the three charities.
(Susan also kindly allowed us to directly collect at this weekend event, with £13.00 raised from impromptu donations to the team)
This evening, Susan hosted an event at Horwich RMI Social Club where the very successful results of her fundraising endeavors were announced, with members of Susan’s family in proud attendance.
Representing the Bolton MRT were husband and wife, Team Chairman Craig Lamb and our Treasurer Johanne Lamb.
Susan kindly handed over to a very surprised and grateful Craig and Johanne, the huge amount of £1,000.00, explaining in her own words how the money was raised;
“Dear all at BMRT, this donation has been raised through the ’Wheels and Motion 2’ Charity photographic exhibition and raffle by Susan Rigby of SK-Art Photography. My Target was £3,000.00 to be distributed between Bolton Mountain Rescue Team, the North West Air Ambulance Service and the Help for Heroes Charity. This target has been finally reached and I’m pleased to announce that each charity is receiving £1,000.00 tonight.”
“I have a stand inside Rivington Hall Barn (the ’Top Barn’) Lever Park, Rivington, each Sunday and each picture and disc I sell over this coming year will include a donation to my chosen three charities. I will let this accumulate over the year. Kind Regards, Susan Rigby and Family.”
The whole team expresses its fullest thanks to Susan for this fantastic donation and her very valued support of the team.
