With team members at our ladybridge Hall Base / HQ working on the final stages of commissioning our three new Land Rover MR vehicles into team service, the inevitable happened and we were called out at 21.41hrs by NWAS (Greater Manchester) to an accident in the vicinity of Cox Green Road, Egerton, which turned out to involve a 61 years old mountain biker, who had sustained a suspected serious left top of leg injury, whilst mountain biking in the company of a friend, alongside Turton Golf Club on the fringes of Turton Moor.

So with barely hours into their service with our team, our three new vehicles received their first baptism of fire, and alongside our BM4 Land Rover MR Ambulance, all four vehicles conveyed fourteen team members to the RVP on Cox Green Road, Egerton, arriving at 22.10hrs where we then met the responding NWAS (Greater Manchester) Emergency Ambulance and two crew on board, and team member Ged Clarke who had been independently made aware of the same incident.

By 22.25hrs our first team members were at the casualty site, having escorted the Emergency Ambulance crew to the scene in the dark.

Pain killing drugs and gas were administered, with the mountain bikers injured leg requiring a full length vacuum mattress splint.

By 23.03hrs the injured man had been stretcher evacuated by our fifteen members present back to the NWAS Emergency Ambulance, which then departed with the casualty en route to Royal Bolton Hospital.

We then all returned to our Base / HQ to carry out the remaining (minor) works needed with regards to our new team vehicles entering service with the team.
