Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

22nd April 2011

The annual Rivington Pike Fair celebrations took place today on Georges Lane, just below Rivington Pike, on a very warm and very sunny day.

The Fair, having been held for over 100 years saw an enthusiastic turn out of people trekking from the bottom of the slopes up to the moorland hilltop and its lookout tower of Rivington Pike, with many thousands of visitors present in the general Rivington area.

The team as ever, was in attendance in the area, directly linked to the high number of visitors present, and the general likelihood of being called to emergencies.

Five Team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances attended, (including our three new vehicles) crewed by 22 team members who, during the event offered advice and assistance to members of the public and were involved with responding to three separate incidents; see Incident 28/2011, 29/2011 and 30/2011.

Also covering the event were a large number of Lancashire Constabulary Officers and United Utilities Rangers maintaining a visible presence in the Rivington area.
