Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

The Annual Rivington Pike Fell Race, held every Easter Saturday for over 100 years, took place today in good running conditions and plenty of April sunshine.

As usual, excellent organisation by Horwich RMI Harriers and Athletics Club meant the event was well attended by an enthusiastic field of runners from all areas of the UK.

The team were in attendance providing Standby Rescue Cover, with twenty four Team Call Out list members present and all five of our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance vehicles, which were positioned along the course.



The races commenced at 13.00hrs with the under 12’s race, (Thirteen very keen runners) followed immediately by the under 16’s category. (twelve equally keen runners) The senior category commenced at 15.00hrs involving an excellent field of 268 runners.



Apart from a few blisters and minor cuts and grazes, the event happily passed without any incidents.
