At the very early hour of 04.57 this morning we were paged by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to jointly attend and assist with a call to the report of a man who had fallen on steep ground into the River Croal on the outskirts of Bolton Town Centre.
NWAS (Manchester) had first received the 999 call, contacting GMP and GMFRS, with GMFRS in turn contacting the team for assistance.
At 05.03hrs a fully detailed full team pager call out was made, resulting in twenty five team members responding.
At 05.12hrs GMFRS contacted our Team Leader directly to stand down the team, as the casualty had been dealt with by a combination of the crews of the first responding Fire Appliances, NWAS and GMP.
Also stood down responding alongside the teams 25x members, were the GMFRS Water Unit, and the NWAS HART team.
