In excellent sunny weather and very dry conditions, eighteen team members today in four of our Land Rover MR Ambulance vehicles provided standby rescue cover provision for the annual Tockholes Fell Race, which started at 14.30hrs.
Organised by members of Darwen Dashers Running Club, the race takes a route from Tockholes Village to Earnsdale Reservoir, through to Sunnyhurst, then upto Darwen Tower, across the moorland edge to Stepback Brook via ’Aggies Staircase’, down to the Royal Arms at Roddlesworth and through the Plantations and alongside Upper Roddlesworth Reservoir back to Tockholes Village.
Only a small field of runners competed this year, with thirty eight runners in total taking part, including one runner who retired mid course through injury. (He walked back to the Start / Finish)
