Further to the team’s full involvement in this years Help for Heroes Charity Run from Winter Hill summit to Bolton Town centre, and the associated Armed Forces Day events in Bolton (See website ’news’ article dated Saturday 25th June 2011) our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE was invited along with representatives of other organisations involved, to a ’thank you’ reception this evening hosted by the Mayor of Bolton Noel Spencer MBE.
Taking place within the Mayors Parlour at Bolton Town Hall, the Mayor of Bolton Noel Spencer MBE in the company of his wife, the Mayoress of Bolton Mrs Alice Spencer, welcomed all present, and thanked all for their help and assistance with organising yet another successful Charity Run and Armed Forces Day events, centred upon Bolton.
Sally Hayes of Bolton Council then added to the thanks, followed by thanks from GMP Sgt Stephen Baldam, overall organiser of the Winter Hill to Bolton Town centre run in aid of the Help for Heroes Charity.
Sgt Stephen Baldam then informed all that to date this years run has raised just over £3,000.00 for the Help for Heroes Charity, a fantastic figure.
Amongst the many present at tonights reception were Iain Bailey, GMFRS Bolton Divisional Commander, other representatives of GMFRS including Brian Wiggans, GMP Chief Superintendent Stephen Hartley (GMP Bolton Divisional Commander), Councillor Frank White (Mayor of Bolton 2006), First Bus (Who kindly provided transport for all the runners involved from Bolton Police Station to Winter hill summit on the day of the run) and representatives of Bolton Sea Cadets.
The reception concluded with Sgt Stephen Baldam handing out framed photographs of all the runners assembled at winter hill summit for this years run, to all the organisations who had taken part.
