Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

11th August 2011

A repeat in almost all the initial details to Incident 54, on Monday morning 8th August 2011 (See website report)

This afternoon, a male was reported on a Tower Crane in Eccles with possible suicidal intent, resulting in Greater Manchester Police contacting NWAS (Manchester) and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, for all three statutory emergency services to make a joint response.

In turn GMFRS paged the team at 14.55hrs for the teams immediate assistance, in case a rescue from height was required.

Within minutes team members were quickly responding to our Team vehicle garage locations at NWAS Ladybridge Hall and GMFRS Bolton Fire Station, with others on route direct to the RVP of West One Retail Park, Eccles, Manchester.

During the response by all the emergency services involved including our team, GMP established that in fact the man on the Tower Crane was a crane operative or engineer, and that the initial call had been a ’false alarm – good intent’ call.

We were stood down responding by GMFRS at 15.02hrs, fully confirmed at 15.05hrs, alongside the other responding emergency services.

Twenty one responding Bolton MRT members were stood down, alongside all four of our Land Rover Defender Mountain Rescue Ambulances.

GMP, NWAS (Manchester) including their HART team and GMFRS were also stood down.
