Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

21st September 2011

This evening whilst their colleagues were enjoying the delights of a wet and cold moorland exercise on Winter Hill, experienced team members Diane Blakeley and Paul Brain were visiting Withnell Fold W.I. to give a presentation on the work of the of the Bolton MRT at their request.

Every month the W.I. have a committee meeting, the main business of the meeting was completed within half an hour (webmaster: Take note Garry!) when it was the Bolton Mountain Rescue teams turn to give a presentation.

Diane and Paul gave a powerpoint presentation to around two dozen ladies Withnell Fold Womens Institute, outlining the teams beginnings and a selection of the searches and rescues they had both been involved with over their combined 20 years service.

A number of the cases were high profile incidents which the ladies remembered from the news bulletins at the time. One fo the rescues we recounted, one of the ladies had a personal connection to the casualty.

At the conclusion of the meeting Diane and Paul were delighted to receive a £100 donation.

The team would like to thank all the members of Withnell Fold Womens Institute for their kind donation, and both Diane and Paul would like to thank the ladies for their help and support for the local incident on the night.
