This evening forty Scouts, two Leaders and five parents from 25th Warrington East Scout Troop (St Wilfrid’s Grappenhall) were welcomed at our Base HQ by Chairman Craig Lamb, Secretary/Support Group Member Gillian Gregory, and Trainee Team members John Dickinson, Philip Crook and Kris Kilshaw.
25th Warrington East Scout Group Scouts have kindly chosen Bolton Mountain Rescue Team as their Christmas charity for 2011, and came along to see how their fundraising would help the Team, and ultimately the public we serve.
Those present watched a DVD about Mountain Rescue and then divided into smaller groups for demonstrations of our Casualty Care equipment, Rescue Throwline use, mountain rescue stretcher carrying, and to see the contents of our vehicles.
With the clock quickly signaling time for the Scouts’ departure, there was just enough time for a group photo, which is intended be used on their Scout Group calendar being planned.
This is the second time the 25th Warrington East Scouts have chosen Bolton Mountain Rescue Team as their Christmas charity, the first time being in 2008 when the fantastic sum of £615.31 was raised by thirty six Scouts.
The Scout Group has nearly doubled in size since then and this year they are hoping to exceed their previous total.
Members of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team will be invited to receive the final amount at the Group’s annual carol singing evening in December.
All members of Bolton Mountain Rescue Team are very grateful to be chosen for a second time as 25th Warrington East Scout Group (St Wilfrid’s, Grappenhall) Christmas charity and extend their thanks to all the Leaders and Scouts involved in their fundraising for the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team.
