At the conclusion of incident 59/2011, our Team Leader was asked directly by NWAS Manchester Ambulance Control if the team had any available resources to assist NWAS with a high number of emergency calls.
Both Team Land Rover MR Ambulances returning from incident 59/2011 were immediately directed to the Great Lever area of Bolton with the report of an injured male. On arrival at scene the injured person could not be located and after consultation with NWAS Control the vehicles were stood down on scene.
NWAS Manchester Ambulance Control then further asked if the team could assist with the continuing high number of calls being made on the Ambulance service.
Ultimately the team made available all three of its available Land Rover MR Ambulances (one being away for decal repairs), and also made available the team’s minibus to provide general assistance to the responding Land Rover ambulances.
In total 7 calls were dealt with tonight, comprising of 3 code green and 2 code amber, and two ’urgent’ calls, primarily in the Great Lever, Halliwell and Tonge Moor areas of Bolton, and also Radcliffe, and the Little Hulton area of Worsley. A variety of medical and trauma conditions were dealt with by our crews.
19 team members responded to these incidents to perform a variety of roles, from the administrative and paperwork side, catering support and to providing the crews for the vehicles.
The last incident was completed at 22:15 followed by cleaning and restocking of the vehicles involved, and the associated administration and reporting completed by 00:30 on Tuesday 4th October.
The team wishes to place on record it’s appreciation for the excellent support from both the NWAS Control staff and front-line NWAS emergency crews that we worked alongside during tonight.
