On 3rd February 2010, we accepted from Greater Manchester Police the very kind donation of a second hand former Police staff transport, Ford Transit Minibus, which became known as Bolton Mobile 5.
This vehicle was officially handed over to the team on 9th March 2010, since such time it has become a much used and valuable part of our emergency vehicle response fleet.
In April last year, Frank Hulton Motor Engineers carried out the last of the works to this excellent condition vehicle to fulfill its new role with the team.
At the time, we decided to leave this vehicle in its plain white livery, as we were considering purchasing new Team Land Rovers, and with such a likely purchase, we would then decide upon a ’new’ livery for all our team vehicles.
Well as readers will be aware, we now have the three new Land Rovers being considered in 2010, fully in current service, and so we recently decided to have our Minibus marked up to match the emergency vehicle livery on our new Land Rovers.
The work was carried out to our Minibus last week by Crake International (the suppliers of our new Land Rovers) and as you will see from the before and after photographs below, our Minibus now looks even smarter in its new livery.

The main addition has been High Visibility side ’Battenburg’ markings, but those with an eye for detail will note that the side MREW roundals have been repositioned, the vehicles radio callsign / fleet number is marked on the top front and back roofline, and the team’s website address is marked up on the base of the rear doors, as well as smaller decal additions.
Next to undergo such a livery makeover is our Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulance BM4, which will be marked up to replicate the emergency vehicle livery markings on our new Land Rovers BM1/2/3. We will report on this work when it is completed shortly, again by Crake International.
